EbSynth, created by Secret Weapons, a business that creates tools for visual artists. It allows you to create stylize animation without having to work on each individual frame.
At first it looks like sorcery but there is no AI involved in the process. Basically EbSynth stands for "Example-Based Synthesis".
For you to get started, you need to provide:
- The video on which the style will be applied.
- A painted keyframe from the video itself, for the reference. (mostly one keyframe is enough but if the video consists of various angles of the character than you need to add more)
Then the synthesizer will apply the provided painted frame into the whole video. The input painted keyframe is divided into several little parts, which are subsequently put back together to create the output frame. The artist has the full control over the process as EbSynth doesn't add anything new on its own it just takes reference from the keyframe we provide.
Here's a great tutorial which will make the whole process easy to understand.
Let's look at a few examples created with EbSynth
