Golden Wolf, a London-based animation studio celebrated for its dynamic 2D animations, collaborated with Netflix on The Monkey King, a fresh take on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. Directed by Anthony Stacchi, the film features a standout 2D sequence by Golden Wolf—a demon-fighting montage inspired by traditional Chinese brushwork.

The sequence, released over a year ago, is a masterclass in blending hand-painted frames with modern animation techniques. Each frame was meticulously crafted to mimic the fluidity and boldness of Chinese calligraphy, creating a visually striking contrast to the film’s predominant 3D animation. While this video isn't new, we’re revisiting and sharing it now to highlight the artistry behind this unique contribution.
